The legal death

Giuliano Montaldo talks about the genesis of the film
 Sacco and Vanzetti
In USA, in 1920, two Italians, Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, were sentenced to death, the only crime they were guilty of was of being anarchists. Millions of voices in many languages were raised in protest. They sought justice for Sacco and Vanzetti, but nothing could save their lives. Almost fifty years later, in 1971, the Italian director Giuliano Montaldo made a film about their unbelievable story. “Sacco e Vanzetti” immediately became a manifesto against intolerance, injustice and the death penalty. It was a huge international success.

0,9 Ampere

Electroshock cure or torture?

The electroshock, is still used today and is probably one of the most controversial therapies in existence, was invented by an Italian neuropsychiatrist, Ugo Cerletti, Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Rome, in 1938 and this was based on inducing convulsions on a patient through an electric current of 0.9 Ampere to the brain.
For some people the practice should have been banned, for others it was the last resort for severe pathologies, but what do we really know about electroshock?

Mà de mà

The intertwined destinies of Michelangelo and Raffaello, the last two Italian transatlantic historians. Thirty years after the destruction of Michelangelo and Raffaello, the Genoese son of one of Michelangelo's officers, began a personal quest, full of tenderness and irony, in the footsteps of his father. Thanks to archive images, Super 8 footage shot in the 70s by the Ligurian officers themselves and the testimony of some elderly crew members, the documentary recounts the paradoxical fate of the two transatlantic liners.
